PAUL CHEK ON THE POST-WORKOUT MEAL MYTH: Protein? Carbs?
A question was posed regarding post-workout meals and how much protein their-in. It’s a very common myth that you need to ingest a large slug of protein immediately after a meal, as if that protein goes straight to the freshly damaged muscles, yet, this is not at all how the body works. What is most important are the glycogen stores which need replenishment, otherwise, catabolism / gluconeogenisis become a post-post-workout at the cellular level. www.chekinstitute.com http www.paulchek.com water emoto cure treatment drugs sleep symptoms reaction diet protein fat attitude self help personal power will spirituality mercola scooby1961 psychetruth natalie

This video is the same as what everyone says, eat after a workout, real meat > protein powder, eat carbs post workout.

well society is basically designed to keep us lazy, docile and stupid. I mean why do anything when you have a t.v, x box, playstation i-phone……

So you want fast delivery of carbs and aminos to the muscles, and yet you tell us to include fats too, which slows digestion, nice.

@MormanManUtah Chimps have a different genetic disposition than humans, not to mention they swing around in trees instead of sitting around all day like humans.

We need to humble ourselves and look at the Chimpanzee lifestyle to find optimum health. They eat fruits, seeds, bugs and forage all day in a relaxed frame of mind. They don’t body build however a small chimpanzee could squish a puffy body builder like a walnut. Pound for pound chimpanzees have denser muscle and utilize more muscle fibers. Much has to do with their lifestyle not just diet. By walking slower, eating slower, working out more meditative focus on digestion we can be like them.

@jreily88 McDonald’s is a billion dollar company along with the people treating the illnesses incurred and pharmaceuticals. I would rather see someone get rich by helping people. People make money on helping or hurting. Also consider how much valuable information he shares for free on youtube. Paul Chek is on our side.

Eating directly after exercise is discouraged has to do with the fact that your body shuts down digestion during intense exercise, and it takes a little while before your body is ready to start digesting food. You should wait 30 to 60 min

Is an unfiltered, bottle conditioned beer a good post workout carb source?
December 22nd, 2011 at 1:19 am
Food manufacturers don’t necessarily have to pay scientist to get favorable results. Most manufacturers do their own study during development of a product and the FDA accepts their results as a scientific study. Needless to say, the manufacturers make sure the studies come out in favor of their product. Many times, the data for the rats that died or got sick are removed, claiming that they were genetically predisposed to the condition. It’s garbage science.

everthing nowadays is scientific…….cavemen didnt have scientists to study how much water to drink or macronutrient raios etc…and they still did ok….so why do we need to follow all these studies now?

3:56 please can you explain why you would want to eat fat in a post workout meal? this is the slowest digesting food type, and post workout you would want a fast acting food type? to be consumed as soon as possible post workout (within the metabolic window) such as a high G.I carb and Whey. Which is why the shakes for bodybuilders do not have fat added. This would be really interesting to hear the reason why you suggest that a post workout meal should not be a whey shake.. thanks.

Oh right, I forgot they sell broccoli and potatoes at the smoothie bar at my gym. I’ll have to do that next time (while I’m still sweating). Dumbass. Not everyone has access to “one serving of animal foods and one serving of plant foods” right after their workout. I think it’s fine to have a recovery drink. Don’t believe that science BS. Believe some random douche on YouTube who wears coach’s shorts.

@PaulChekLive Paul Chek is on steroids? Id put money on it. Yet I know vegan bodybuilders with more muscle than you and doing it natural.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:15 am
Absolutely agree with the funding behind case studies. Do you believe that a banana or another natural form of carbs can be broken down and absorbed within the anabolic window post workout?
Most supplement companies will argue that you need a processed form of protien/carbs/fats that will absorb faster and within that anabolic window.
December 22nd, 2011 at 4:37 am
@DClotworthy Dextrose is the best for quick absorption after a work out. Fruit (fructose) is the worst since fructose is first stored in the liver and used by the body at a later time.
December 22nd, 2011 at 5:18 am
Fruit sugar (fructose) is not good for post workout. Fructose is not absorbed quickly like dextrose. Fructose is first stored in the liver and used by the body later. These guy who keep telling you to eat fruit after a workout are giving bad information.

I just ate a bowl of salad which consisted of lettuce carrot sweet corn sliced peppers half and avocado two wafer thin slices of ham and a pinch of cheese, and on the side two slices of brown bread. This is a good mix of food ?
