Losing Weight – Lose 20 Pounds Fast
Some people just seem to find life easy, and bounce from one accomplishment to another. Whereas there are also those who live at the other end of the spectrum, and make a mess of everything they do. So we have the victorious and the victimized – and they can generally be differentiated by their attitudes.
To realize your target weight on a diet program, you must assume the attitude of a victor. The victims attempt diets in a hesitant manner, hoping for good things, but never really believing they’re worthy of getting the figure they want. Victors wholeheartedly buy-in to a triumphant result, and use emotion to back their actions.
Take two tennis players about to play for a championship. One says “It’s my last go – I’ll give it my best efforts,” but the other one says “Winning is EVERYTHING to me.” Who do you think is taking the cup home with him?
If we split up the word OAR we have the definition of a victor – someone who takes Ownership of his/her task, is Accountable for their actions and assumes Responsibility for getting it done. ‘Bed’ can be used to describe a victim who remains in bed because he’s given up! B is for blame, E is for excuses and D is for denial.
Not relying on others, but taking ownership of the job is a strong characteristic of a victor. He takes account of his actions by taking them seriously. He sees things through by tackling problems instead of creating them. He doesn’t take excuses from himself and is responsible for the outcome of his activities.
The victim always has a reason for not achieving, and it’s rarely to do with him or herself. Slip-ups and blunders are never down to him; he assumes no control and so no responsibility. He makes excuses for under-performing, not realizing the only person he’s convincing is himself. After repeating this cycle of excuses and blame for a while, the victim is in denial. He’s absolutely convinced that there isn’t anything he can do to change things.
People approaching a life-changing diet and exercise program need to give themselves a mental work-out, to stack the odds in their favor. To really embrace the health-enhancing program, any traces of the victim syndrome have to be wiped out.
Attitudes (both good and bad) are simply habits, and with constant repetition they can be altered. When you’re alone with your thoughts, are you thinking like a victim? If the answer is yes, then take control right away. Don’t think others are better than you – it’s just that some people have fought their demons and come out on top.
“There is no such thing as a hero, only those who rise to the occasion”. Those were the words of Winston Churchill, and they’re just as valid today. We have to have the mind-set of a winner in order to achieve the weight we want ourselves to be.
