Muscle Building Tips
My basketball coach is telling me to build more strength. I have no fat in me and I just want to know if I can still gain muscle if I dont have fat. I am kind of skinny.

fat doesn’t turn into muscle nor does muscle turn into fat it is two separate layers of tissue.
work out, slowly increase your free weights and you will build muscle

yeah building muscle for a girl is harder than it is for boys but it’s doable. i’m not sure if you’re a boy or a girl but i use to think that too. it’s not true. you don’t need fat.

No you don’t need fat to build muscle. What you need to do is go to the health food store, get a high protien shake mix. Eat your regular meals, in between your regular meals have mid morning shake, mid afternoon shake, then another shake after you work out. You need to do a strength building routine (look one up on line or in a fitness magazine). Keep motiated and good luck!!!

Yes you can build muscle mass without adding fat. You need to up your protein intake without taking in a large amount of fat.
The best thing you could do to add mass is go to GNC and get a thing of Whey Protein…it’s a little better than other proteins in that it sticks to you and doesn’t digest as quickly….therefore your body has more time to use it. They sell a kind that is about as easy to mix up as Hershey’s Quick too so go for that.
Then when you are working out concentrate on heavier weights with lower reps. The high rep counts and low weights trim you down. If you want to bulk up you want to bulk up the weight. Try finding a weight that you can do 4-8 reps of but no more. Do three sets at each body part spread out through the week like you would any other workout. Maybe once a week do light weight work out for your whole body to keep your muscle definition.
You should start bulking up within two weeks if you do this right. You want your calorie count to be around 4000 a day but once you grab that protein you’ll see how easy it is to take that many in without eating too much bad stuff,
good luck and call me when you’re knocking shaq down in the nba

Fat does not turn into muscle.
My son had to build more strength when he was in basketball, and I know that the way he did this was lifting weights. He didn’t lift large amounts all at once, he lifted smaller weights more repetitions. You will be sore, that is the tearing that goes on in your muscles. You have to do this because the tearing down of the muscles causes the building up of the muscles. Eat good meals, plenty of vegetable and fruits, whole grains, and of course proteins and some dairy. Drink lots of water to help prevent dehydration and to prevent muscle cramps.
Also get plenty of sleep. It worked for my son, it should work for you.

It is impossible for fat to become muscle. Muscle and fat are totally different. Muscle can only be built or made larger by putting it under stress and forcing it to grow. You get fat from eating more calories then your body is using. The extra calories are stored in your body and will eventually become fat if not burnt up by exercise. Muscle cells and fat cells are totally different and one can never become the other.

Of course you have bodyfat. Without a certain percentage of
bodyfat, you would be dead, because your internal vital organs need a certain percentage of body fat to function correctly. Gaining muscle is not the same thing as burning fat. You need to do strength building exercises (weightlifting/pushups) to start to build muscle, and maybe use protein shakes and supplements if necessary. You need to add muscle in the right way. It takes time to do it correctly. Fat is essential as well as muscle. You burn fat, and you build muscle, and the two activities are independent of each other.

Yes, you can…
-You need to eat at least 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh each day (no more than 40 grams at a time). Drink lots of water to help your body process the protein better.
-You need to consistently work out with heavy weights and low reps to stimulate muscle growth (if you can do it more than 8 times, it’s too light).
-You need to let your body totally recover before working out a particular muscle again (less is more when gaining).
-Get 6-8 hours of sleep (perferably 8).
-Take L-Glutamine at night to help keep your body from burning muscle.
-Stay away from as much cardio as you can (nothing that will raise your heartrate for extended periods of time).
-Be consistent! Good luck.
