@sz42781 im talking about cycles
August 31st, 2011 at 2:29 am
@sz42781 you talking about recovery between sets or or muscles groups. I take such short breaks between sets because i am just following Mentzers idea of reaching failure before oxy depletion and lactic acid onset. But i do take big breaks between muscle groups. Say i do chest.. i wont work it out again for at least 6 days and i take about 3 days off total. I have a 4 days split and fri, sat, sun i do light to med cardio or if im feeling frogy ill throw in some interval training only. no weights

@jonathanrayhargrove1 Your missing a huge part of the heavy duty secrets. Hint, heavy duty training requires heavy duty recovery.

why no towel?

@sz42781go to critical bench.com and look up Mike Mentzer’s Lost Heavy Duty Secrets
That routine can be done with any muscle group and its what i am basing the routine that i have created for
myself on..
1 Mike Mentzer Set
=
1st Max Rep
+
10 Second Rest
+
2nd Max Rep
+
10 Second Rest
+
1 More All Out Rep
or
Reduce Weight By 20% And Do The Rep
+
15 Second Rest
+
Final Rep
If you read the article it will explain that Omni Contraction technique. Its killer. It really is badass

@sz42781 youre right but what i am saying is that i am taking the extreme HIT and after doing a drop set to get those fast twitch muscles.
what i do is take about 80 or 90% of my 1 rep max and hit it until my positive fails. Then negative 1 or 2 times. Then negative/static/negative. Thats 1 set. Rest 15 to 30 sec then do it again until i just cant anymore. Thats the HIT. then i rest about 10 min then drop set. Its just a technique i am trying out. Ill see in about 12 weeks what i gain or dont.

@jonathanrayhargrove1 if your doing drop sets thats not hit
August 31st, 2011 at 4:42 am
@sz42781 I havent been using this technique for long but i been incorporating drop sets with it. That allows me to get that fast twitch muscle growth as well. Your weight will drop considerably if you really try your 1 per max and negative and negative with a static and negative. then work the same exercise using drop set technique. I think Yates took Mentzers idea and really perfected it but Mentzers philosophy is great especially if you want to work past a plateau. Then back to Yates HIT.

It would be great if this training worked for me, but it doesent. It works in theory but im convinced most people wont see good consistent results from this type of training. Where is the reps, the pump, how are you going to stretch the muscle fascia, how are your going to work fast twitch fibers? I am forced to believe this method of training was popularized by people using performance enhancing drugs.Everyone wants to heave ho one rep and leave, but its not reality.

Very impressive. Tried some of these methods recently and really felt the effects. Especially with legs.
August 31st, 2011 at 5:40 am
@CCMAR Not only is that correct – but if you really try this method exactly as Mike describes you’ll make gains. Its a good program to throw into your routine for a month or two as you change things up and shock the body into gaining.
